Brenda Critical Mass Auto

S3-Bottom media dense

All 3 of these in the run have a 50/50 mix of ffof and roots organic with 6 cups perlite (2 per gallon), EXCEPT THIS ONE. This one is about 2/3 that mix in the top, and the bottom 1/3 is just a mix of 3/7 cups ffof and 4/7 cups roots organic as I ran out of perlite, I went heavier off the roots organic. The top media should be light enough to let the structure of the plant build.

BitchWhatsThatSmell

BitchWhatsThatSmell Where did you get those red jars? I love them!

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL Honestly they’re just kitchen containers. They’re glass jars with this red cover around it and the lid has a silicone seal, so it functions great. I’d just start keeping an eye out at the dollar store, target, home goods and such. They’re great for large amounts or if you just want to keep a few on the stem to show off lol

Day: 94

Harvest day! Cut her down in pieces in order to be able to wash the buds properly. I used a cup of hydrogen peroxide in 5gal tap water warm, then a cool rinse bath, then a cold rinse bath. Laid on a rack then put into the drying tent in this new contraption I’m trying. I got it to try and take advantage of more space in the tent instead of just hanging one plant in the middle of the tent. This plant only took up one row, but she’s heavy af. I put her at the second to last row. I visited after about two hours and everything was dry with the fans on high. I was worried the breeze wouldn’t get through the mesh but it seems to be ok. Put the fans to 50% over night and closed the vents 50% as now there is more material and more humidity.

Caliban

Caliban Washing buds is good practice! I do same always.

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL How do you do it? And how do you dry? I was worried about mold but I left the tent open over night and the humidity is around 55-60% now so I closed it

Caliban

Caliban I use 3 buckets. First lemon juice and baking soda. Maybe 1/2 cup each for 5G water. Second bucket. Second peroxide. Maybe 1 cup for 5 g. Third clean water. I drip dry and let the buds hand with a fan for a few hours until dry. The peroxide kills and mold spores so you should be good. I also trim off the big fans before hanging

Watered two days ago with the dunk method. They were dry an extra day since I was away and they Deff paid for it. Tons of leaves wilted and dried up. Nothing really bounced back after watering. Everything is starting to yellow. Did I not feed enough or cut it off too early?

LeChron James Describe the dunk method

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL I got tired of taking so much time to water the girls and even then I felt like it wasn’t getting the entirety of the soil leaving dry spots. I mix the tea and such in a bucket, ph it, then bring the pot and dunk it in the bucket until I see water bleeding through the top layer of the soil. Leave it for a minute as I inspect the foliage, then lift out and drain. Takes a fraction of the time and you know it’s gotten every part of the soil moist

combatmedic81

combatmedic81 I like halo feeding rings and a water pump w/ manifold. Sooooo easy

Watered today with some Epsom salt, egg calcium solution, and recharge phed and gave almost three gallons to all three girls. Forgot to do the dunk method this time. No new growth on the bottom so just waiting for amber to make her debut

Watered today with just water and tried a new method. I filled a bucket with water and tried dunking them. Worked pretty well, I know it’s a full soak and it was way easier to drain. The fruit flies are still a major issue, but way less thrips. Continue yes to spray the soil and lower leaves/buds. Deff going to try a wash before hanging to dry with hydrogen peroxide or a lemon and baking soda mix. The lemon is a worry for me by is such small amounts it should be fine. I Lao raised them on a stand and raised the lights to get airflow under and put the fans low to the ground. Hopefully this helps deter the fruit flies.

Watered yesterday with 2tspn kale concentrate, 2tspn Epsom salt, 3tspn calcium egg mix, 1tspn recharge and molasses. I’m still spraying about three times a day with peppermint and dish soap on the lower leaves. I added some Epsom salt and calcium egg solution before phing. Hopefully they respond well, I’m not there to see. I laid diatomaceous earth over the soil as I see more fruit flies on the soil.

Day: 59

Watered yesterday with kelp, molasses, 2tspn Epsom salt, and 2 tspn diy egg apple cider vinegar calcium solution measured for 2 gal but added to 3gal water. So a little diluted I guess? I then sprayed with peppermint essential oil and dawn soap 2 drops and barley 1 drop to a cup of water. Just the stem and soil. I raised the power of the lights to 650ish par 100%. The next day everyone looked ok and not hurt by heat. Her leaves are still experiencing necrosis at the tip of the yellow leaves. But everything is turning a cool color and fattening up! She’s oily already and smells great

She was very perky in the morning, responding well to the feeding. Sprayed neem oil again. I think the yellowing has slowed down but hasn’t stopped

combatmedic81

combatmedic81 You ever try epsom salt?

SaviiBuds

SaviiBuds Neem oil is toxic to humans and animals and has been linked to cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. It use to be widely used, but new studies have shown that it’s not really safe to consume.

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL Wow savii I had no clue. After looking up some research articles it seems neem oil causes its own toxicity in humans. The symptoms deeply resemble that of CHS. Either way, I don’t want that shit. If there a safe organic pesticide I can use?

Watered and fed! Top dressed with 2Tbsn bloom and 1tbsn all purpose and worm castings. I then watered with molasses, recharge, and tried the kelp concentrate. I then had to top with diatomaceous earth for the infestation and spray the lower half with neem oil. Noticed some serious regression in her coloring on the lower leaves. Going to feed her today. I think I gave a half a Tbsn of all purpose last feeding a week or so ago and didn’t note it… either way, it looks like they’re needing nitrogen, so I’m going to give a full Tbsn all purpose and 2 Tbsn Bloom nutes. I’m also going to try the clean kelp concentrate to help with the recovery of all the stress and improve microbes. They will also get a Neem oil treatment for the thrip infestation and diatomaceous earth covering of the soil.

Caliban

Caliban Standard N deficiency. Typical as they age into flower.

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL I hope it’s just N. I wasn’t sure, since I had the girls stressed with the light I thought maybe they’re responding weird and using more of the other nutes too causing a bigger issue.

Caliban

Caliban Light stress doesn’t make them fade like that. A good remedy is a handful of worm castings as top dressing. Some fade is normal. Epsom salts for Mg too

Great news! I raised the lights significantly and she’s responding very well! Almost completely back to her perky self. I don’t think she took the worst damage but she is showing signs on the lower leaves. Did I cut nitrogen too early? Also, they all have red stems on the top and green on the bottom side. Idr what that means but I think a magenese deficiency? What do dark brown hairs on the bud sites mean? Too hot at some point? Did I completely fuck something on that bud site? Found thrips on her sister, going to need to give a treatment soon.

zer0applied

zer0applied Purple stems = phosphorus. Usually a lockout issue. YMMV just my two cents lol

zer0applied

zer0applied HOWEVER i just noticed this was critical. That’s normal for the most part. I have two criticals that I despise and they’re purple almost always to some degree.

zer0applied

zer0applied Also….. that’s a really low PPFD for flowering. I usually run 1200

Watered her today with just water phed. Moved her location in the tent. I see more dead and dying leaves. And she’s fading in color. I’m going to say it’s from the stress of the lights, but anyone have any ideas? What sup helps healing from heat and light stress? Raised the lights again this morning. Her leaves are still down up top and the edges are raised. Her lower leaves are still fading colors. I just fed her last week so I’m not sure what she’s missing

Cochran

Cochran I’ve seen the leaf edges do that with low humidity. Is there any chance it’s that and that the roots are struggling to get water? Seems weird bc all of your other grows I’ve seen are 🔥🔥

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL Thank you! And I don’t think it’s humidity. I want to say it’s light stress. Look at the photos I’m about to post for Denali (northern lights) she’s literally half light half dark like light bleached 😳

ZaddyXL

ZaddyXL Also I watch my charts with the temp and humidity. If it is humidity, it’s because of the high heat, I’m like 85 degrees in there and idk the conversion you need to balance humidity to heat

Day: 47

Flower
+2

I’m not sure why, but her upper leaves were dropping for a few days and haven’t perked back up at all. I lowered the humidity and increased the fan to lower the heat. Is this light stress? Over watering? Help! I dropped the par about by about 200 to see if she changes at all and raised the lights.

agendercannabis

agendercannabis the edges of the fan leaves tell me it’s heat or light related, I’m not the most experienced but that sticks out to me.

ZaddyXL Yea I’m raising the lights for a few days to see what happens

Day: 45

Watered and fed today with 2 tbsn of bloom nutes and a worm casting, recharge, and molasses tea phed. I waited 4 days instead of 3 because I thought I wasn’t going to be able to water. The yellowing at the bottom is consistent in all three girls. Not many leaves, but a few were turning. She was also increasingly droopy by day 2. I removed all yellow leaves so I can see how they’re responding in a few days and if the yellowing stops.
