DRY WEIGHT FINAL HARVEST

zenmaster

zenmaster After wet trimming I stored the manicured buds in a brown paper bag and left to dry, it has now been 2 weeks (13 days precisely) drying in the brown bag, today I took the buds out of the bag, weighed them up to get a dry weight and then put the buds into a glass mason jar with a 62% boveda pack KK3 Wet Weight was: 35.7g PKC1 Wet Weight was: 31.3g PKC2 Wet Weight was: 39.8g *** KK3 DRY WEIGHT: 10.0g *** *** PKC1 DRY WEIGHT: 9.2g *** *** PKC2 DRY WEIGHT: 11.11g *** I always normally dry before trimming, this is the first time I’ve ever wet trimmed, so I have never taken wet weights before, and not that weight loss matters, I was still curious to know how much weight loss there was during the drying stage, so I worked out the weight loss just for fun… KK3 Weight Loss: 25.7g PKC1 Weight Loss: 22.1g PKC2 Weight Loss: 28.7g

KK3 & PKCs - Wet Trim - Brown Bag Dry

zenmaster

zenmaster On day 93 I wet trimmed KK3 but didn’t have to do the PKCs, I stored in a glass mason jar and 24 hours later the jar had fogged up with moisture but there wasn’t any mold. Day 94, I wet trimmed both PKCs and then took wet weights Wet Weights: KK3 - 35.7g PKC1 - 31.3g PKC2 - 39.8g Wet weight doesn’t really matter but I’m curious to see how much weight loss there is after drying Day 95, today, i transferred them from the glass jars into brown paper bags as I read this was a method to drying which I haven’t done before and because I’ve had to harvest early due to smell issues, the brown bag method seems like a good option, I will leave them to dry for 1-2 weeks before transferring them back into the mason jars.

KK3 & PKCs - Early Harvest.

zenmaster

zenmaster Today I only wet trimmed KK3 , both PKCs will be wet trimmed tomorrow, an additional note, without reading the label of the jar I was smelling, I put my nose in an instantly said “wow that smells like pineapple” and surprise surprise, the jar I was smelling was one of the PKCs, I love how accurate the smell is to its name… Now for the main update … ——— Unfortunately due to certain circumstances, I have been forced to harvest the girls early… Normally I will remove them from soil and hang them to dry for 14 days, sadly due to said circumstances I’m unable to dry the plants whole, so for my first time ever, I have tried wet trimming instead… I removed the plant from the tent yesterday, chopped all the buds off the plant and scrapped the soil and skeleton… Then today I have wet trimmed all the buds up (on KK3, PKCs get wet trimmed tomorrow) … I had to put them in mason jars straight after trimming due to the very strong smell… however about 5 minutes after putting them in mason jars I noticed the jars started to fog up with moisture, this is obviously not good and could lead to mold and potentially ruin the whole harvest, unfortunately I don’t have the option to air dry them how I would normally (again due to the smell) I have had to leave them in the mason jars tonight until tomorrow (roughly the next 24 hours) I’m hoping they won’t be ruined and develop mold in that time… I am unsure if I will be able to keep the harvest or if I may (very sadly) have to dispose of it all (heartbreaking) I’m going to try and get some brown paper bags and dry them in there in the main tent with the carbon filter and put a ONA gel tub outside the tent in hopes that will be enough to combat the smell of all the trimmed plants combined otherwise I will have to get rid of everything which will be extremely disappointing So at the moment I’m not sure what’s going to happen, I haven’t weighed them because they’re not dry enough to give an accurate weight, I will update the log with the outcome whenever that may be.

KK 1&2 - Harvest, Trim & Weight.

zenmaster

zenmaster KK1&2 have been drying for 13 days (I normally do 14 so it’s a full 2 weeks however I don’t have time tomorrow so) I harvested them today. I am pretty pleased with the outcome, the buds look beautiful and frosty and smell so fresh and sweet KK1 Dry Weight: 8.7g KK2 Dry Weight: 9.4g This weight is about average for the size of pot I used and compared to previous grows. KK1 had slightly bigger nugs whereas KK2 had more nugs but more popcorn sized. I didn’t come across any seeds in KK1 however I removed 3 seeds from KK2 when trimming and before weighing. KK3 will be moved into the dry tent tomorrow and will be left for the next 2 weeks and then a final weight of the 3 King’s Kush’s will be updated, so far the total weight is 18.1g and I’m pretty pleased with that.

Week 12 - (KK1&2 Dry Day 7)

zenmaster

zenmaster KK1&2 have been drying in the dark tent for one week now, I will harvest them on week 2 after it’s been 14 days I have decided that when I harvest them, KK3 will be moved to the dry tent and the PKCs will be pushed for 2 more weeks

Week 11 - KK1&2 Chop & Hang

zenmaster

zenmaster Both KK1&2 look ready to be taken down, very milky looking trichomes, dense buds and dying leaves, I think if I left her any longer it would be a waste of time, they both look good to come down… I did a final pre-trim before chopping, normally I move them to dark 48 hours before chopping but I chose not to do that this time as the pots were very wet still and didn’t want a mold or humidity issue, plus I read that it doesn’t actually make much difference… So instead of 48 hours dark, I let them sit in the tent for another 48 hours instead, today on week 11 I have chopped them both from soil and hung them up to dry in the dark tent with an air purifier inside and they shall stay there for the next 14 days. KK3 looks like she will be the next to come down but atleast 1-2 weeks before I’d say she’s ready PKC1&2 will be following KK3 either the same week or the week after as they are both close to being ready as well.

Day: 70

Week 10

zenmaster

zenmaster I think KK1 & KK2 are ready to be taken down, they look very dense and trichomes look very milky, so I will move them to dark in 5 days and leave them for 48 hours and chop and hang them to dry on week 11 KK3 looks very close but still has a lot of foliage which will be defoliated this week, so I think she will be ready for chopping in 1-2 weeks PKC1&2 also both look close to being finished but still could be pushed a little longer so most likely 1-3 weeks before their chop day

Week 9

zenmaster

zenmaster This week I had to remove a few more seeds from the PKCs, but they are starting to fatten up now, PKC1 is still a little behind PKC2 All 3 KKs are very frosty, KK3 is still full of leaves but today is the first day the leaves are starting to yellow a little, KK1&2 have lost most their leaves now and just working on fattening up, shouldn’t be too much longer now for the KKs

Week 8

zenmaster

zenmaster Slowly filling out, this week I noticed MP had a few seeds which affected PKC2 to the right, PKC2 was also the same one I found the exploded pollen sack.. I’m hoping that they aren’t all filled with seeds inside, I tried to remove as many seeds as I could see in hopes that they will stop producing them Leaves have been curling this could be heat stress or nutrient deficiency now they’re coming closer to end. My Mars Hydro also went dim on standard mode so I had to switch to External mode for it to work with full brightness which is very concerning, I hope it stays working at least until they’re all finished, I will have to upgrade my light as soon as they’re all done. So not a great week but hopefully they will be okay.

Day: 49

Week 7

zenmaster

zenmaster This past week, there hasn’t been many visual noticeable changes, but some key points… PKC2 during the week developed some pollen sacks, one of which burst all over her own leaf below, I removed this instantly and so far haven’t seen any more It also looks like because of having a heat wave in the weather, it seems like some of the dryness and yellowing of the leaves may be due to heat stress KK1 is the first to start showing trichomes on her top colas fan leaves No major updates this week, just those few mentionable points

Day: 42

Week 6

zenmaster

zenmaster The tent is looking very full which is lovely, both of the PKCs are looking healthy and vibrant with full green leaves and pointing out The 3 KKs are also looking good, however the KKs leaves are very curled inwards which doesn’t look to great, I’d assume this is an environmental thing, however since only the KKs are doing this and all the others are in the tent under the same environment, I’m thinking it’s more likely a genetic thing, or that this specific genetic may thrive in a slightly different environment.. Either way, they are all looking good and healthy and all are shooting pistils, starting to form budsites.

Day: 35

Week 5

zenmaster

zenmaster It’s wonderful seeing how much growth occurs in just a week, the leaves seem a little dry, I believe due to lower humidity so I have now turned on the humidifier for a little to get it back up.. PKC1 looks to have started to developing budsites now at each node, showing pistils PKC2 has had 4 plant bends added to her All of the 3 KKs are now showing signs of pistils, none of the KKs have had any LST done, their structure seems difficult to add bends, but they all seem to be looking well and healthy.

Day: 28

Week 4

zenmaster

zenmaster Quite a lot of growth this week compared to last, most notable things from this past week… I moved the Mylar sheets below KK2+3 as they’re starting to develop nodes.. I added bamboo sticks to start doing LST to PKC1+2 I removed one of PCK2’s lower nodes that wasn’t getting any light to allow energy focus into the light available nodes, I also lollipopped some lower node sites on PKC2, also to note on PKC2, one of her leaves is showing a burn, I considered nutrient deficiency but since it’s only one leaflet I’m ruling this as a water burn from the light KK1 has pretty much been left alone as she is doing so well and bushing out so wide, she needs to stretch some more before I can introduce plant bends Overall they all seem to be happy and healthy !

Day: 21

Week 3

zenmaster

zenmaster This week has had some very notable growth, PKC1+2 + KK1 have all started growing their lower nodes and building their structure with explosive growth rates all 3 looking fantastic! KK2+3 are slowly catching up, both growing at the same rathe as each other Today I added Mylar sheets to increase the reflection under the canopy to the lower nodes Watering roughly every other day.

RoMag

RoMag Damn Zen: Mylar sheets!!! Nobody can accuse you of not going the extra mile for your ladies. Wish I had thought about it. I’m still struggling with the yellow fly paper.

zenmaster

zenmaster Thanks RoMag! It’s a technique I thought of experimenting with a couple years ago and found that it’s quite effective in early stages! - I don’t have any experience with fly paper, but from what I have read, if you’re outdoor growing then they do seem like a helpful trick

Week 2

zenmaster

zenmaster In the last couple of days, growth has been roughly at the same rate, but compared to day 7, last weeks update, these girls have grown quite a lot PKC1+2 + KK1 are all taking the lead by far, all have expanded are working on their 3rd sets KK2+3 however are still quite far behind, being small and although showing tips of 3rds, they’re still working on their first two sets All 5 of these girls are doing well though, all look relatively healthy, some looking a little burnt ever so slightly, that may be the soil is a little hot for them, but hopefully as they develop over the next couple of weeks, fingers crossed they start to thrive even more.

Day 7 - Week 1

zenmaster

zenmaster 31/3/34- 4:00pm- (168 hours later) It has been 7 days since all 6 seeds were put in water to start germination, 1 of the PKC seeds cracked and showed tip of taproot and just stopped growing, that one has not been planted. As for the other 5 seeds, all 5 are now above soil and all are showing their 1st set of saturated leaves, KK2 is a little behind the others in growth as she is still small but she looks healthy. KK3 is the one I have to keep a close eye on, yesterday she cracked fully and sprouted leaves while still in water, leaves were completely white, after being planted and left for 24 hours, today the leaves are looking a little more green and the 1st sets have grown a little since yesterday indicating that she is still alive and growing, hopefully after a couple of days she will gain more color and grow a little bigger. Now that the first week of germination has been complete, next update will most likely be weekly from next week.

Final KK cracked - all 4 above soil

zenmaster

zenmaster 30/3/24- 4:00pm- (144 hours later) The final KK seed cracked yesterday showing half a taproot which wasn’t long enough to plant, today the taproot has grown longer but has also fully broke out the shell and showing opening leaves, the leaves are white which is concerning, I have planted her straight into soil in hopes she will come to life, this may be a bad idea as later down the line she may have a very low yield and stunted growth… I’m just hoping for the best. All 4 seeds currently planted have all rose above soil and are also showing their first sets of saturated leaves, PKC2 and KK2 are a little behind the others which makes sense seeing as their taproots were shorter, KK2 is the furthest behind.

zenmaster

zenmaster Awesome man! Hopefully by tomorrow the taproot will be long enough to plant 👍🏼 try giving the supafreak another day (up to 72-96 hours if necessary) if still nothing then try switching to the paper towel, I try to use float tech predominantly but as a last resort if they haven’t cracked after 3-4 days then I’ll switch them to the towel

Day: 5

2 KKs cracked - PKC1 + KK1 above soil

zenmaster

zenmaster 29/3/24- 4:00pm- (120 hours later) Both of the remaining 2 KKs have cracked, 1 is long enough to be planted, the other is not long enough, hopefully by tomorrow it will be. 5 days for the seeds to crack is quite late, on the upside at least they crack, on the downside this could mean they’ll take longer or be stunted.. hopefully this isn’t the case. KK2 has been planted in soil with a humidity cup over the top —— PKC1 & KK1 have both risen above soil, shell still attached but should fall by tomorrow PKC2 had not rose above soil, I lightly removed the top layer of soil to find that the seed was curled slightly down and was trying to raise up, so I removed that layer of soil to allow easier growth, very gently covered the top with a thin layer of soil to protect the seedling from the light, she should hopefully break above soil by tomorrow

Day: 4

Another KK cracked - None above soil.

zenmaster

zenmaster 28/3/24- 4:00pm- (96 hours later) - The final PKC that cracked yesterday showing tip of taproot has not grown at all today, I think it may be a dud. - 1 of the 2 Remaining KKs in water has cracked and grown a taproot almost long enough to plant (hopefully long enough to plant tomorrow) , the last KK still hasn’t cracked, shall assume that one is also a dud. • Out of the 3 seeds planted in soil 24 hours ago, none have rose above soil yet, the 2 with the longer taproots (PKC1 & KK1) are showing the shell at soil level but not above yet, the PKC2 however has not even reached soil level yet (this one had the shortest taproot though)

Day: 3

4/6 seeds cracked - planted 3/6.

zenmaster

zenmaster 27/3/24- 4:00pm- (72 hours later) • All 3 of the PKCs have cracked, 1st to crack has a long taproot, 2nd’s taproot is medium sized and the 3rd is only showing just the tip • Still only 1 of the KKs cracked, the other 2 don’t seem to have cracked at all, the one that did, now has a long taproot • Planted the 2 PKCs into soil (although PKC2s taproot isn’t as long as PKC1, I think it’s long enough to be planted • Planted the 1 KK as that taproot (like PKC1) is long enough 3 in total planted into soil and have humidity cups over the top of them.

Day: 2

3/6 seeds cracked.

zenmaster

zenmaster 26/3/24- 4:00pm- (48 hours later) 3 out of 6 have now cracked and showing taproots. 1 of the PKCs is still quite short, however the other 2 seeds taproots are fairly long, I think both of those 2 will be ready for plant tomorrow, hopefully the 3rd will be long enough to plant at the same time. Hopefully by 4pm tomorrow the other 3 will crack. Fingers crossed.

zenmaster

zenmaster That’s right, I used to do the paper towel method however I do prefer doing this method now, it’s called “float tech”

zenmaster

zenmaster Good luck bud! Hope it goes well.

Day: 1

1/6 seeds cracked.

zenmaster

zenmaster * 25/3/24- 4:00pm- (24 hours later) Only 1 of the ‘Pineapple Kush Cake’ seeds have cracked & showing tip of taproot. The 5 other seeds have not cracked yet.

zenmaster

zenmaster I also had to use a syringe to gently add some more water because the heat mat was causing some evaporation.

Float Tech Germination.

zenmaster

zenmaster * * 24/3/24- 4:00pm- - Dropped 3x Kings Kush seeds in water - Dropped 3x Pineapple Kush Cake seeds in water *Instead of using the paper towel technique, the past couple of runs I have been using the Float Tech technique, simply leaving the seeds to float at the top of the water and letting their taproots grow down long enough until ready to plant. *Normally I start the ‘day 0’ count from the day taproots have grown and been planted in soil, this time I’m starting ‘day 0’ from the day they were first put into water for germination. *First grow after upgrading the inside fan and inline fan to AC infinity.
