First Grow

Free seeds

4x2 Tent. 9 out of 12 seeds popped. Only had room for 7 so two got outed already. Tent is small so I will be cutting the number down if I have to. Figure on loosing a few at sexing or weeding out the weak! See what I did there———^^^🥸…… footnote…….. or lack of skill!

Day 66 (Week 10)

Vegetating

32 updates

88 photos

Day: 66

Did some defoliating and stretched the known female (#7),out more she is tied to the tent. #2 is picking up its grow, no LST yet. #1 is still being stubborn some say male, some say looks like it could pop a pistil. I am being patient, and hope it becomes more defined.

Day: 61

#7 is looking nice.

Day: 61

#1 is not wanting to show its sex just yet.

optix4207 Male you can see stick and ball there very small now but will continue to form

Day: 60

#7 She is looking nice. #1 Unsure is looking strong. Still not seeing much at the splits might be the same as 7 but not as developed. #2 has boomed I might have fimmed it top is looking like a few extra sprouts coming out. Still small.

Day: 54

+1

Hit my first big hiccup. The tent system was down for about thirteen hours. Got it back up but didn’t set light cycle to old time. I hope the plants adjust well to time zone change. Oh well, went on like normal. Did LST this morning. Gauge was in the way of #1, pulled it. Still not sure what to do with #2 it’s growing but way behind, It’s so cute.

Day: 53

Just keeping up on LST trying to keep the center of #1 open. Because of topping 1 is growing out and #7 is going up. I know trellis will help with that later. Just spraying leaves when I see the plant wilting. I will water in a day or two.

Day: 53

#7 is a girl. I see hairs in the crotch. #1 I can’t see anything yet. But that’s cool it’s a start

organic_grower

organic_grower Lmao! Hairs in the crotch 😂 good one OldSmoker! Your plants are coming around nice! 👍

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower Slow start but I will know better next time

Day: 51

+2

They look like they are responding well. #1 is thick, so the center was not getting light. Looks like LST will really help #1. #7 with its scrawny trait seems more suited to take in the light and is spreading nicely.

Day: 50

+1

Did some LST they looked bunched up tried to open them up. They have not been watered in a few days. I also noticed that #1 didn’t respond to topping very well as noted just after topping. #5 got put outside, it was not growing. For space three looks like it’s best anyways. Also thinking square is better then round in a tent space.

Day: 48

Trimmed all the big leaves on #1. First grow leaves are 5”. Had one leaf with only 4 leaves. Didn’t water just sprayed leaves of #1

organic_grower

organic_grower You should just let them grow. No need to trim fan leafs off at this point.

Day: 47

Keeping leaves down. Going to let gauge go to red for a day. I will water tomorrow morning.

Day: 45

Roughed up the soil for algae, if it persists I will try cinnamon. 2 looks like it might respond well to the new soil.

Day: 45

Did some more work trying LST out.

Day: 44

A few days later and they look good. The others are still staying small.

Day: 44

Did some work when I got home. Transplanted 2 & 5 into Foxfarm Ocean Forest. Did minor trimming of lower water leaves and dead or mostly dead. 7 is responding to the Topping, 1 was tighter cut I think. Two questions if anyone can answer. 1 Is the green on the soil mold? 2 Why does 7 only have three leaves?

Day: 41

1 and 7 are looking bigger.

crit#2 Looks good man keep it up 👍 you might want to check out some different soil amendments and the YouTube channel (grow like a Viking) gets the best plants you’ve ever seen and he’s all organic too. I’m new my self but I have a little experience with a farming family/growing when I was younger. I had almost the same situation too and did you poke holes or cut the bottom of that inoculation cup or the roots don’t have anywhere to go and it stunts them pretty hard. I’ve also found that the less they’re transplanted or moved the better they do I actually almost just killed one of my girls from the same reason. Also if you don’t mind me asking what type of soil are you using?? I’m disabled and if you ever need another opinion or what advice I could offer don’t hesitate

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower I am using Foxfarm Ocean Forest. Check out day 34 the roots were coming out of both transplants I did so I could not pull pot. I did rip them tho.

crit#2 Right on that sucks about your roots, I just burnt one of my autos. I thought they would be easier then autos boy I was wrong. Photos are way more forgiving! Have a good one I’m on once a day. Happy growing!

Day: 41

Topped #1 and #7. Hope it was done 👌

Day: 38

Transplanted the last 3. Got some California organic soil. Not sure if it’s any good guess I will see lol. Got ac/heater combo set up also.

organic_grower

organic_grower Your new soil..ummmm doesn't look very good man. You want some perlite in the mix for sure. It looks like peat moss, It may give you trouble in the long run. Just a heads up growmie. 👊

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower Oh Just got a bag from Lowes. Like I said don’t know what I am doing, lol. Not sure if I can fix that?

Day: 36

They are doing a lot better. It looks like #1 is going to loose another layer of bottom leaves. #7 looks scrawny but could still do something. #6 looks like the top is so bad it’s hopeless. #2 & #5 are very small. Should I save them or? Scheduled a light change to veg at 12 midnight tonight.

organic_grower

organic_grower Those are looking much better. 👍🌱 You should transplant the rest.

Day: 34

That’s the roots for #1. I think that I could try and just put the pot in a hole in a new pot. With the foxfarm soil. #7 is sticking out of the bottom too.

Day: 34

+1

Fallowed good advice and got them in the 5 gallon. I used Foxfarm ocean forest blend. Moisture looked good on gauge. Ph looked like it was in the green but that’s an 8. #1 & #7 will have more room and better soil. Put second light back because they are spread out more. Didn’t see away of solving that issue. If anyone has advice so I can arrange things better and save a few bucks I am down.

GoldenTiger

GoldenTiger “Welcome to the grow tent” has one of the best YouTube channels for growing. Comprehensive and beginner friendly. I highly recommend.

GoldenTiger

GoldenTiger I wish we could message each other on this app, because I’d describe my 2x4 set up that is doing really well

Day: 33

They are still struggling but I am still working out the kinks. Not adding nutrients so hopefully it will balance out better. 6 took a hit and the two runts 5 & 2 are still kicking. 1 is not surprising me it was about an inch long in 24 hours.

Not real grow related but this guy stopped by when I was installing the door last night, hope he brings me luck. I have goodies in the boxes inkbird humidity controller, humidifier, dehumidifier and the most costly thing (lol) the portable ac/heater combo. Still lots of work to do this weekend. Hard (Fun) work but it should pay off.

Got them in. It’s starting to look better.

organic_grower

organic_grower I don't know what size those lights are but you could probably get away with running just one at the moment.

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower 100w led each at 60%. I will cut it down to one thank you.

organic_grower

organic_grower Just trying to help but I think you should switch your soil up. It looks really dry with the spacing between the pot and medium it doesn't look like it holds moisture very well.

Day: 28

Lost a couple of them. Still hanging in there. I am almost done getting shed fully set up. Getting door today and ordering an ac heater combo, fox farm soil, nutrients and ph balance. So I can really get started.

Day: 17

I didn’t give up and still have hope for #1 and #7 they have new growth past first real leaf. Thanks for the advice so far. In about a week or two. I should be able to get the temps and humidity controlled better. I am getting a new door and heater/ac unit.

organic_grower

organic_grower They look really dry keep those girls hydrated. 👊

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower I watered them this morning before work. I pull pots and look if they are moist about half way I don’t water.

Day: 12

I pulled the humidifier I think it was because the water I used was tap and hard. Got white powder in filter on out vent. Not sure if they will live but it looks like a mold(not an expert). Temps are still harsh.

RichMcflyy How close is the light growmie? Also, I have zero experience with growing in soil but I’ve heard of soil being “hot” sometimes. In other words the soil could sometimes have too many nutes for young seedlings. Not sure if that is the case here but I think nute burn may have something to do with the discoloration, that or light burn. Either way, I wouldn’t give up on them just yet. Growing can be difficult and I’m still new myself, but we GROW from every mistake made so no worries growmie 😎🤟🏾💯 Hope I helped

HeritageSecretGarden

HeritageSecretGarden The white powder is from the tap water it calcium from hard tap water use RO water in your humidifier and that will go away

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower I did just use a soil I had It was a a miracle grow seed starter. I didn’t check pH of soil or water so not a good start. Guess I was excited to start lol

Day: 10

All are showing yellow tips, 4 is the worst. Figure it’s the heat. It’s been way to hot. Don’t think they will make it. Figured doing this with free seeds would be better. I need to finish prepping shed. Ordered door (three weeks out), so it will be able to hold the air that I treat inside the shed. After install I can get a ac/heater unit and maintain a more constant temp.

combatmedic81

combatmedic81 Ya, 103F is hot. Can you ventilate anymore

OldSmokerNewGrower

OldSmokerNewGrower I have a 6” duct fan running full blast pushing air out but it’s above door that has gaps letting air in. So the cross ventilation isn’t working yet. I have two 4” ports on the opposite side of the shed but the gaps in door don’t allow for the design to work yet. Prehung door is 2-3 weeks out.

organic_grower

organic_grower Try opening your tent up if your able keep the door open

OldSmokerNewGrower Thank you. I added a humidifier at the end of the day yesterday. To small well runs dry to quick. Will change out later. Like I said one step at a time.

Day: 7

Added another Aerolight raising the first one and setting second one even with first. Also added two fans opposite sides of tent. The heat has been crazy in my neck of the woods and don’t have the cash for a ac unit, oh well one step at a time.
