masscangrow Congrats on getting through your grow. It looks like my early experiences growing especially with when the flowering burn happens. How do often did you water to runoff? I didn’t water to runoff when I started and it caused crazy pH and PPM problems. After getting advice, I found my runoff to be 3pH and 7500ppm. Once I started watering to runoff and managing pH to ~5.8 and ppms everything else straightened out.

Jresyn Thanks! This grow was 100% better than my first attempt hahaha. As far as numbers for feeding goes I’m not too sure I didn’t track them like that. Maybe I should research more on proper amounts. I ended up getting into a routine and forgot to adjust during flower so was still watering with foxfarm big bloom and tiger bloom too frequent. How do you calculate runoff to manage the pH?

masscangrow You can buy a pH meter and ppm meter. Cheap ppm meters are available In Amazon. There are also cheap pH meters but they die or drift, after buying several I finally got a $75 apera. The runoff is just what comes out of the bottom of the pot when you water or add nutrients. I test the water I add (which should be dropped from 8 out of my well to 5.8), the nutrient solution I add(I go with 60% recommended strength and adjust pH to 5.8) and the runoff I collect (should be around 5.8 and under 1500ppm for). I aim for 50% runoff when I add nutrients each week. So if I water with 10 gallons Of nutrients I want at least 5 gallons to come out the bottom. If you are using a coco or peat based non-soil you need to water to runoff to clear out the salts that are exchanged at the roots when it takes up nutrients and water. If the salts build up, the pH goes out of range, then the plant can take up nutrients, then the nutrients build up and the whole things spirals out of control.

Jresyn Cool I’ll most likely flip the cycle next week then! I was planning on getting a bigger tent for my next grow and use it for the flower stage and continue using the 4x2 for veg

BoofMaster 1300 is waaaaaay too high for veg, you’re going to nuke them. 600 max until mid flower but anything over 1200 will need supplemental c02 and 80 degree temps to process the extra photons or else they get stressed.

Caliban A lot depends on the switch date. I usually wait until they reach 24” which is usually 8 weeks in veg but that is my preference

Jresyn What would you consider the start of the veg state? The grow is 74 days since germination. My tallest is 12” currently. Trying to stay on top of this grow since my first grow was a bit of a mess with not being prepared for what I was given. This grow I was able to start myself though and have been enjoying it a lot.

Caliban 12” is very stunted for that age. You should be almost double that growth. You should check your light plan and your feed plan. What is true wattage from wall for those lights?

bonrad24 It looks like the top is blocking out light for where you topped it. I would tie down the top to let the bottom nodes get light, if you look up Low Stress Training on youtube theres alot of videos.
