36 days into 🌹.. smelling good😩.. looking good😍.. I’m feeling good🔥🌱💨 .. Ladies Thriving and Surviving.. Also I got question for all my experience growers and researchers.. what would be the best and EASIEST approach to flushing my plants.. we’re in a 4x4 tent with two trellises... they’re in fabric pots on plant caddies with no drainage holes just slots to catch run off.. no idea too crazy..

Week 4 of 🌹.. Thriving and Surviving.. my watering has been nute.. nute.. then ph’d water only..I had to adjust the amount of water in each pot to get them back on schedule together even though I’m still watering my taller Blue Dream and Gold Leaf more than my shorter Blue Dream.. buds are looking nice in my Newbie opinion.. since last week I found very tiny larvae or worms in my run off.. also small sort of white maybe light tan-ish color bug in the top of my soil.. the don’t look like worms..I check every inch of the plant.. no signs of stress or damage to plant.. no webs.. eggs.. no spots.. discoloration or anything.. there’s been no flying insects either.. I’m using Bug Blaster by Robert Bergman’s Plant Food line from ILGM.. it’s all natural ingredients able to use as foliar spray without harming buds.. I’m guessing mites in my soil and do y’all think they’re soil mites instead spider mites since I haven’t seen any spider mites signs.. thank y’all for y’all insight..

So about last night.. one thing I was terrified about after doing my initial research before growing was transplanting..I mean you hear plant going to into shock after you made 50+days, stunted growth when everybody say they’re looking good.. and thought of my newbie hands touching something so delicate.. that’s why if you would see in my journal I immediately transplanted in a 3 gallon (20/20 was a mistake) after germination hoping to avoid this.. Well glad I listen to y’all good ppl about transplanting before flowering and going to 5 or 7 gallon..as can see in the pictures roots wrapped around the newspaper and perlite..I can’t imagine this making it through 9-10 weeks of flower..🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 hopefully I didn’t mess up..

Day: 45

👀👀🤯 for some reason I only had video for today so the picture is a screenshot of it.. today was weird day..as you see in the pics all my girls across the board were dropping.. no high temp no crazy humidity and the color was looking fine.. so only culprit had to be they were thirsty however finger test it was still little damp which about what I expected for the day before watering and soil moisture meter said it was 4-5 which is at the edge of green but heading towards red which is another expected sign my day before watering and usually on this day right about hr or two before lights out they would do this... I misted them and few hrs they picked up towards the light also moved the light up... guess it wasn’t that weird after I wrote it out but if any my experts read something else btw the lines.. much appreciated 💪🏾✊🏾

mystrain420

mystrain420 I noticed in my flower tent that musty smells occur if rh and temp is too high. I can smells the sweetness when it’s cooler and dryer.

mystrain420

mystrain420 It seems particularly due to rh imo

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Ok so I wasn’t tripping.. thank you man.. my RH been low 52% to high of 71% and temp never get over 84 unless I have a heat on in the house.. do you think I should try to stay on the low end of RH or everything ok??? Happy Growing

Thriving and Surviving.. adding water today.. ph’d @ 6.27-6.35 with Robert’s Bergman’s Plant Food GrowTime nutes with half a dose of Cal/Mag.. I used Fox Farm Sledgehammer with last watering to help with flushing salts in soil, so I notice that soil is draining a lot better.. Run off PH was btw 6.17-6.26.. question thinking of moving into a tent.. is it essential I get two inline duct fans for intake and outtake.. and is it fact that as my plant grows the RH is increasing? If so should u be investing in dehumidifier and if yes to tent with fans should I instead invest in digital humidifier?.. any advice of the essentials I need at this stage if I decided to move from my closet to grow tent.. thank y’all Happy Growing

Thriving and Surviving.. you know the slogan or maybe not but it’s all a newbie can hope for when the reading, research, forums and gold advice from y’all good ppl go to work.. question or maybe I’m tripping.. my ladies seem to know when it’s close to lights off and they begin droop down from praying about 1hr away from lights out than bam everything worshiping the LED come light on.. is this possibility that they sense that or they trying to tell me something else...or I’m just a high Happy Growing

JetFuel420 Great Question. If praying leaves appear on a healthy fast-growing plant, you probably found the “sweet spot” for light intensity. You’re giving your plants intense light levels, so they grow as fast as possible, yet you know you’re not giving too much because the leaves are green and healthy..What else can cause pointed-up leaves? Pointed up leaves can occasionally be triggered by high heat, low humidity levels, and root problems. As far as seeing them go from praying to drooping I think that is all apart of the days cycle for plant . The Plant has been trained from day one to know a 18/6 light schedule. Possible gearing down .

Day: 33

Sooooo.. this what happen today.. plants been drying out the soil a little faster so I decided to increase the water (1st mistake) and 2 out the 3 show signs of overwatering 🤦🏾‍♂️I didn’t use no nutes this time.. I’m using Fix Farm Ocean Forest soil and it was recommended to Fox Farm Bush Doctor Sledgehammer flush every 4th week..so was it 2tsp per gallon.. water is tap and ph’d @6.36-644,. Added some vivosun trellis...yeeahh I must was pretty high to order 5 by 15ft trellis for 3.5 by 2ft closet but I cut what I need and it to wall.. Temporary until I get a tent..I been satisfied with closet so far but looking down the road we losing room or experience eyes you think not lmk.. also please someone break it down simple to me should I be cutting small fans covering sites or can I continue tucking them out the way or should in just be focusing on getting as tops as I can and then handle pruning down the road like before or in flower..🤷🏾‍♂️ all of your opinions are welcome critiques too...also if my brothers Plantman and Caliban see this post y’all felt it was my nutes that was making my run off acidic, you may have been correct because i checked after this watering and it 6.24-6.28 across all plants..so another question should in increase ph from my normal settings when I add nutes to ensure this not happening 🤷🏾‍♂️ Thank y’all Happy Growing

Caliban

Caliban Hi GM. Good morning. Point the fans at the base of the fabric pots to speed up drying. I always try to keep my PH around 6-6.5 entering. And within 6-7 on runoff. With my organic soil it usually is stable around 6.6. My problem is low RH! Try fewer Nutes and see how the girls respond? I’m also struggling with the leaves. I think that I’ll follow some old advice and keep them in place through flowering and let them keep storing energy unless they become totally obstructing. I’m following your steps closely!

Caliban

Caliban Also. I got some advice that with organic soil avoid using liquid Salt based Nutes as they will kill the microorganisms. I try to keep my Nutes organic as much as possible.

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama With the humidity for me.. as my plant grows I’m noticing my RH is rising if my temperature staying about 77-82F but it’s not in the red yet.. when I did have problems I introduced a cheap Vick humidifier right outside of my closet door and it seem to work for me up to 12-15%.. I can’t put it inside for long but when it would stable the humidity would be at 76% if I keep the room cold..99% if it’s 75F or higher.. so if you working with a tent I think I’m seeing guys find balance with their induct fans.. weather probably could be affecting you cuz it’s suppose to rain today here and mine as of now 65% it’s usually stable 54-57%.. any brands you suggesting with nutes..as of now I’m using Robert’s Bergman’s Plant Food .. And that old advice about the leaves must be the way to go because I adopted that instantly in my head but I was just wondering how you graduate from that.. these guys be showing some pruning skills.. what’s can go? What should not? Me? Tuck and tie down lol.. now do cut away dead looking ones but other than that flowering I revisit the pruning tools.. what type of soil you using..

Caliban

Caliban They are looking good. What are you doing about defoliation? I’m thinking leave the big leaves in place on my girls. What is your strategy? Where you from in Bama? I lived in GA for a spell and worked lower Alabama in the early 90s when I was in sales. They look really lush! Also what is your watering schedule?

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama I wasn’t planning on defoil until 3rd week of flowering however PRUNING🤦🏾‍♂️ I have no idea to attack this.. heard too many conflicting stories and right I can’t narrow down a concept or technique to tackle this so any suggestion I’m all open.. definitely need to do something to this Gold Leaf.. right now I just been folding and tucking big fan leaves out the way of bud sites.. my watering schedule in currently in flux since they stepped up their growth rate.. it was maybe week ago gallon and half btw my three plants and 4 days to next watering.. now it’s same time frame but 2gallons and soil little drier by 3rd day.. yeah I’m from lower Alabama place called Monroville about 1hr away Florida line or Mobile,AL..I stay in Louisiana now.. that’s crazy you been close.. see it’s energy thing.. like ppl always vibe

Day: 31

My three ladies got their feed today..1/2 tsp per gallon of Robert Bergman’s Growtime Fert. in PH tap water btw 6.1-6.3 and PPM @ 701.. we’re still in 1st week of Veg... run off for two of my plants was 5.8 &5.9 and the other was 5.67.. my experience growers is this alarming? Also if anyone reading I gave all plants same amount of water.. would different plants have different amount of run off or do you think my soil in the one that’s not running off as much as other is too compact or not able to drain properly.. the plant in question is the Gold Leaf while the other two are Blue Dream..? Is this normal?.. solutions if you feel there’s a problem.. I top two of my plants today the ones that I only been lst-ing..collage picture is before and after watering..I like those pictures of them coming alive lol.. thanks for advice Happy Growing✊🏾💪🏾🌱

combatmedic81

combatmedic81 I would say each plant probably requires a little bit different amount of water and feed since they are different strains. My plants in different tents dry out slightly different because of the slight environmental differences.

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Ok thank you because I wanted to know was this natural occurrence and not a sign of problems to come. I did think she absorbs water more because even when I mist her she will droop a little while and then stand back up unlike the other two... thank you for the insight

plantman

plantman There are a lot of factors involved, but yes, different strains grow differently, and the difference can even go for how many weeks in bloom are required. Some plants are 8 weeks while others are 12 weeks. The root systems of different strains can equally grow differently. Depending on the root mass, a plant may take in more nutrients than another plant, thus, your different numbers that you are getting. If I may, I see the leaves are drooping quite a bit. Maybe try to add some additional nitrogen. It should perk them back up again.

I FIM’d one of my Blue Dream(far left) and it’s getting bushy as hell.. amazing to see the stems race to the top.. my other two, Blue Dream and Gold Leaf have only been LST’d and needed more ties.. any advice about trellis.. like when to use it and how to use as the plant grows taller? Is your height for trellis based on “how high”you want your plant or it’s based on what stage.

THCookie

THCookie Place the trellis at the height you want the bottom of the canopy. A trellis is good as you can use it to weave the branches through and promote lateral growth. It’s also good as you can defoliate the girls below the net to promote airflow and growth the the top canopy.

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Thank you man.. may ask you this? Why do some grows use more than one trellis and is it a way to mess this technique up

THCookie

THCookie I personally wouldn’t use two nets IMHO. I’d use one as per my previous. The only reason I’d use one is to stretch the girls lateral and promote an even canopy with far more main tops.

All three of the girls looking good hopefully feeling good today. Nothing major today but big drop in humidity and temp flux with finding the right temp for my family and my green babies. Finally becoming unfrozen outside. Pic 5 and 6 is Goldie one day removed from me culling her twin sister Rollie😩I had two seedlings in one seed if you missed the previous days. However Goldie seem to got over it quickly showing vigor and appears almost or bigger than Star (pic 1&2) who has been the star since day 1 germ. Pic 3&4 of Shawt Stuff my Blue Dream lil lady is strutting along as well tho she seem to be tortoise in this race, but we know how the tortoise did.. Plants are tad darker in the picture and the yellow on the first set of fan leaves happen first day transplanted. One of my Grow bros from previous post said it appears I have cal mag def. I got that coming into the mail Monday. But if you see anything or any suggestions fire away. If you feel it’s not cal mag please confirm or tell me why you think not otherwise preshate the love and dedication Growers.. Happy Growing

Day: 14

Girls were looking good today. I been going back and forth on what to do about the twins especially when one of them showing great potential. I wanted to see if they could thrive together but every article or advice I got said to separate or choose one. This my first grow so I wasn’t confident of cutting the other down and trying to revive it. Didn’t know if I had waited too late or would kill the other plant if I waited later for the seedling to mature before separating..😞😩I made the choice to keep one. Man I see first hand why y’all say it hurts to cut on your babies, but this was for the greater good. I snip the plant at base of the stem going into the soil. Was this the correct way? I germinated in rockwool so I figured the roots would be all through that so it wouldn’t be wise to dig it out from the other plant?🤷🏾‍♂️ Any advice before disaster or for me to do better in the future is gladly appreciated.

mystrain420 No point in digging it out now, if that’s the case you could’ve separated them and kept both. The point of culling one is so they don’t fight for food and so you don’t have to dig one out. In the future I’m sure you know now they each need they own pot but if you do this again it’s easy to fix by taking the entire root ball out and submerging it in water while gently rubbing off the soil. I’ve don this to transplant from soil to coco and I’ve seen ppl do it from soil to hydro

mystrain420

mystrain420 Not sure if u handled it already but in pics 1,6 & 7 u can see a calcium deficiency in some leafs

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Could I have separated them even though it germinated in rockwool?.. Also how can you tell if I got cal mag deficiency.. what are the signs? But I got a bottle coming in Monday.. also your advice on you would feed it to your plants? Thank you brother for your insight.

Day: 13

Been a stable day no watering besides a little misting to help with humidity. The cold outside, my heater, humidifier and light finally got mutual understanding of what we trying to achieve hopefully nobody violates the agreement. Pretty much just monitor them today and sat back and sip some coffee smoking my weed not grown by me while marveling at their beauty and will to live. Man it got to be so satisfying doing this for a living. Must be nice.. One day One day.. Happy Growing

Thriving and surviving.. fought the temp and humidity all day because my southern climate got hit with winter storm.. wasn’t too bad tho just had a few extreme here and there but never for long periods because probably like most newbs unless I’m unique lol I dam near every hour or so and even more if I’m dealing with environment flux. Thriving and surviving. Also finally updated this journey so I can post daily instead of catching up. Happy Growing

Was just another day studying them, praying over them... Leaving them the heck alone besides adjusting humidity and temp. Lowered the light to 26inches.

Each picture is beginning of light cycle and towards the end. Notice a gippy leaf on one of the twins so I moved them apart to see if more light help and as you can see by zooming in just few hours the leaf takes a big jump. My short plant of Blue Dream seem to be trying to withstand my bone head mistakes as well as all of them.. hopefully I make smarter decisions later.

Day: 7

So I feel I made a lot mistakes, first being adding that pinch of nutrients to my water. The soil already jammed pack with nutrients, that was probably an overkill. Also I believed I added too much water. The soil was already moist and I jumped to putting my seedlings into soil before I fully understood how much water a plant need in different stages. I was just thinking plants need water and I’ll make sure they have plenty. Thank God I didn’t go crazy with water so It could have been worse. Essentially I split little than a gallon baby bottle between 4 infants. Decided to keep the twins together to see where this plant goes.. Don’t like the thought of wasting a plant but I’m intrigued with the twin seedlings so I’m keep going until I have no choice or they die. My Star plant the one that germinated first and the tallest of the two is either suffering from nute burn or overwatering or both. The shortest plant definitely could be suffering from these symptoms as well. Time will only tell 😞

CraigBengfort

CraigBengfort A few things, definitely way too early for any kind of nutrients there are plenty in the soil for about 3-4 weeks. You only water every few days as the soil drys out pretty much completely. Two plants in one container almost never goes well, one will take the majority of everything while the other stays small

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama So how would you remove it and I have updated pictures from this point if you want to make your assessment from there.

Day: 6

First day of transplanting in a Fox Farm Ocean Forest soil mixed with perlite and mycorrhizal by Dynomyco. Saturated the soil with 6.0 PH tap water that sat out for 48 hrs. Added a pinch Robert Bergman’s Seedling Fertilizer to my ph’d water because I’m over zealous newbie dummy. So only few hours into the soil and I made host of mistakes before and after. I’m going to talk about them in tomorrow comments.

Day: 5

Added water to cubes. Cleaned humidifier. First pic was around 9am that morning and last pic was around 6pm. Discovered that my Gold Leaf seed had twins. I’m kinda intrigued to see if they can coexist until harvest but could possibly remove the smaller of the two. Anyone reading this if you had experience with this your advice or expertise would be greatly received.

Day: 3

No water needed today and lighting the same however we can see a little growth happening inside of two of the cubes.

Day: 2

I put few droplets of 5.3 PH tap water to keep cube moist. Lighting height and timing has not changed.

Day: 1

I soaked 3 Grodan Rockwool cubes in 5.3 PH tap water for 2hrs. Placed 2 feminized Blue Dream and 1 feminized Gold Leaf in cubes to begin this wondrous journey. Placed in Grow closet under light at 36in for 18hrs on and 6hrs off.

mystrain420

mystrain420 Did you germinate first?

herbhorder

herbhorder You should germinate it helps the tap root development and helps for a stronger plant from the start. Even though there’s nothing wrong with just planting the seeds out right

burzum Rock wool will actually germinate better than any method. Don’t believe me try it for yourself. My rates have always been 95-97% using rockwool over any other method. And no you don’t have to soak the seeds for 24hrs prior to planting into the cubes either. When using the small cubes you don’t need to sock them for 2hours (4” cubes and up yes tho) small cubes need a quick 2-3minute soak and your good. I ph my water to 5.8 and drop em in. Word of advice take the cubes off the cardboard your inviting mold into the base of the cubes plus possibly other contaminants. Happy growing!!! Good luck!!
