Gelato Mint
00Seeds
Gelato Mint Cultivation Log: Successfully germinated 3 out of 3 planted seeds, with a total of 2 seeds remaining unplanted from the initial 5-seed batch. All 3 seeds have shown vigorous germination, and I'm optimistic about the potential for high-quality results. Maintaining a detailed journal to track progress, identify key growth milestones, and refine techniques for future grows.

Day: 53
Vegetating

Gelato Mint Update - Day 53 (6/04/2025) I've initiated Low-Stress Training (LST) on all three Gelato Mint plants, and it's clear that they'll soon require more space to accommodate their growth. To address this, I'm planning to transplant them into larger pots next week, which will provide the necessary room for continued LST and optimal development. My strategy is to continue bending the plants to encourage an even canopy, allowing them to grow vertically before topping them. This approach should promote uniform growth and maximize yields. Currently, the plants are receiving a nutrient regimen consisting of Silica Blast, Cal-Mag, and Pure Blend Pro Grow. I've also noticed a few whiteflies in the grow area, so I've started applying a preventative treatment of neem oil with potassic soap during the vegetative stage to mitigate any potential pest issues. Let's see how the plants respond to LST and the ongoing nutrient program.

Gelato Mint Update - 5/27/2025 - Day 44: The three Gelato Mint have demonstrated impressive resilience and have fully recovered from previous stress, now exhibiting robust and healthy growth. Plant #3 appears to be the most vigorous, closely followed by #2 and #1. With their current trajectory, I'm planning to initiate Low-Stress Training (LST) next week to promote even canopy development and maximize space utilization. My strategy is to allow the plants to continue growing until mid-to-late June before transplanting them into their permanent 7-gallon containers. Once transplanted, I will continue LST techniques until the main stem reaches the edge of the pot, at which point I will top the plant to encourage lateral growth and branching. Based on past experience, topping has proven effective in promoting more robust development of middle stems and branches. Additionally, next week I plan to implement a water-only dunking technique to help stimulate root activity and overall plant health.

Gelato Mint Update - 5/21/25 - Day 38: This week has seen a notable recovery in all three seedlings following a minor setback caused by inconsistent watering, which led to a brief drought stress. Fortunately, they've all bounced back and are now exhibiting healthy growth patterns. To proactively manage potential pest issues, I've applied a light dusting of powdered diatomaceous earth around the plants. The current feeding regimen, which includes a balanced grow nutrient formula supplemented with cal-mag and silica, appears to be supporting robust development. While progress is promising, there's still a considerable amount of time and care required to reach optimal maturity.

Gelato Mint Grow Log - 5/12/25, Day 29: Encountered a growth plateau due to inconsistent watering, resulting in medium dry-down. To rectify this, I transplanted Seed 1 and 2 into 1-gallon fabric pots, and Seed 3 into a 3-gallon plastic pot, providing a more suitable environment for root development. Currently, I'm focusing on a consistent nutrient and watering schedule to help the plants recover and get back on track.

Gelato Mint Grow Log - 5/01/25, Day 18: Plants are progressing well, and I initiated nutrient feeding this week. Response has been positive, with no issues to report. Currently, the plants are thriving, and I'm looking forward to the next stage of development. Scheduled to transplant into larger containers next week to provide ample room for root expansion and continued growth.

Gelato Mint Grow Log - 4/21/25, Day 8: Plants are developing nicely, currently being fed plain water supplemented with hydrogen peroxide (allowed to stabilize for 24-48 hours). Recently introduced a small dose of Cal-Mag to support healthy growth and prevent potential deficiencies. Scheduled to transition to a regular nutrient feeding schedule next week, which will provide a balanced diet to promote optimal growth and development.

Day: 4
Vegetating

Gelato Mint - 04/17/2025: Initiated germination on 3 seeds using H2O and a dash of hydrogen peroxide for 18 hours, followed by a soaked cotton swab method in a humid ziplock bag on 4/8/25. Taproot emergence was observed, and seeds were planted in soil on 4/10/25. Emergence occurred on 4/13, with seedlings breaking through the medium. The third seed was started approximately 1.5 weeks later, hence the lack of pictures. Currently, I'm feeding plain water with a hint of peroxide, allowing it to sit out in sunlight for 24-48 hours to stabilize the pH and reduce potential pathogens. Monitoring progress and awaiting the optimal time to introduce nutrients.
