Day: 13
Vegetating

I thought we lost “the winner” two days ago. It got uprooted out of the pot somehow and was lying on its side. I put it back in the soil and buried everything and fully expected it to be completely stunted, but it looks like it has recovered fairly well.

MikeEyre74 Princess Pea is getting large
Day: 10
Vegetating

Everyone got moved up to a larger pot last night, except “the winner” went into a 1 gallon while Princess Pea and Thelma both went into 2 gallon pots. “The winner“ just keeps going sideways and not up, which isn’t helpful for a plant…

Nirvana42o0 One thing I love to do is just start the seed in it’s final pot size so it doesn’t have to be transplanted and never goes through stress (which slows down growth for a few days). But no worries! 😉 the plant growing sideways will be fine. Question 🙋♂️: are they staying outside the whole time? I feel like it’s kind of late in the season, no?
MikeEyre74 Normally, for an auto flower, I would do the same, because I’m not really into transplanting autos… But as long as you don’t mess with the roots and are careful with your transplant, they don’t get annoyed. The problem is I don’t know if these are male or female because they are not feminized so I don’t wanna go filling a bunch of 3 or 5 gallon pots and then have it turn out to be a male that I’m just gonna chuck. As far as “the winner” goes, I just didn’t want to give it all that ocean forest and have it not make it over the next three days And take my good soil with it. 😝
MikeEyre74 And sorry, but yeah, these are auto flowers and they have a 70 day or so harvest time so I have at least eight weeks since I started them and that’ll put me at the end of September or so. I’m in Connecticut so that’s no trouble up here until you get well into October, but I’ll have my hands full in October harvesting from three other plants so I didn’t wanna have all of them come together at the same time. That’s way too much trimming for one guy!😝😝
Day: 8
Vegetating

I think we’re going to call this vegetative growth. I see a second set of true leaves on all three right now. The Winner is still hanging in there, just a little bit smaller, but does have an alarming twist in the base of the stem like it doesn’t know which way to go sometimes?

MikeEyre74 This is The Winner, which is doing OK, but the stem is a little wonky?
Day: 6

Thelma and Princess Pea still doing the best, but the Winner is starting to pick up the pace now.

And then there were 3… Karen didn’t make it. Never got out of the seed coat.

Day: 4
Vegetating

The Winner has finally shed that seed coat and is looking to launch. A day behind is better than Karen’s fate… 🤣

Probably a little hard to see but they’re all up and viable so far. Moved them to the outdoors with the rest…

Day: 1

Started up four seeds in these mini fabric bags with plastic cup humidity domes. These will have to be sexed in the coming weeks. They’re all in the same Fox Farms Happy Frog soil. The little lady named and potted two and I did the same. Now we see who has the magic touch!
