Winter Grow - Ethos Freebie

Winter 2023-2024

2x2 tent in my home office. Potentially will move to my 2x4 in an insulated garage/closet if temps behave closer to March if possible. Otherwise, quick veg and flower in the garage. Sprouted and planted into mini pots 12/25/23. Second seed planted 1/1/24 as a back up but appears both are working fine. Nectar of the Gods #4 soil. Will be using Jacks 3-2-1 nutrients later on.

Day: 120

Holy weight stacking… jacks 100% feed at 6.3 PH today. Need to get the microscope out here soon. Pushing week 8 of flower into week 9 soon. Back to grape candy instead of lilac when trimming. Will be interesting to see how this smells once cured

Day: 117

6.4 PH Jacks at 100%. Full water this time around. New dehumidifier in my office is keeping tent around 40%-50% RH with varying temps of 69-79 degrees F. VPD for the most part is between 1.3-1.5. Buds stacking serious weight

Day: 114

Flower

Fed again, 100% jacks down to 6.0/6.1 or so. Really stacking weight on these buds. 7 full weeks since 12/12 flip today, hoping for a couple more weeks or so! Trimmed a couple lower buds off under the canopy. I definitely understand the lilac name, smells exactly like lilac.

Day: 111

Flower

Jacks 100% fed at 6.3 PH. Messed up and fed the first 1/3 without correcting the water but hoping it takes it ok. Definitely made some mistakes with this one but the buds are still stacking up. Need to watch after this feed and see if I need to dial back to 75% nutrients.

bigo32 Thanks! I had a lot of fun so far with this one. Learned a lot about training.

Day: 108

100% jacks again today - typically don’t feed before lights off but soil was pretty dry. Need to feed Monday before I take a flight in the morning and am gone for a couple days. Getting closer.

Day: 106

Flower

Dumb move to remove trellis a couple nights ago, noticed a broken branch in the back and lost a flower. Won’t do that again. Fed 100% jacks again. PH 6.2 full gallon. Still tracking for a good harvest.

Julgrow

Julgrow super nice training bro 👊💯

bigo32 Thank you! Learned a lot this grow. Had a trellis most of the time. Foolishly took it off and lost a cola.

Day: 103

Flower

100% Jacks solution going down on this feed again. Week 5.5 or so of flower - hoping this one is done around 9 weeks! Grape candy smell when trimming. Might need to dilute the 100% after two straight but I’ll see how it responds the next couple of days.

Day: 100

Flower

Was in such a rush to feed after I got home from vacation that I failed to PH the water. Got the last 3rd of a gallon down to 6.0. Hoping no further issues but dosed this at the 100% solution of jacks since it is looking like a Mag/P deficiency due to lack of feeding while I was gone (twice in 8 days likely not enough). Hoping she can bounce back. Doing well otherwise.

Update as I’m on vacation from my buddy watering for me. Pre-Jack’s 75% solution again. Last water on day 94 was very diluted - gave her a break. Very satisfied with structure and canopy so far! Can’t wait to see how big these buds get.

Doob0402 I have a couple of these seeds myself excited to run them after this batch

bigo32 It’s been a great and fairly easy grow so far! Good luck!

Day: 90

Probably need to clean up lower part of the plant a little more yet. Fed 75% Jacks. Next feed is 75% solution for 2/3 gal and the rest plain tap water. She probably won’t drink for 3 days, so hoping nothing crazy happens. Today being Sunday - feed scheduled for Wednesday and Sunday. Back home on the following Wednesday. Hoping she can power through.

The 2x2 is cookin 🔥🔥🔥 love the gas smell coming off this. Going so well. Jacks fed 2 nights ago at 75% full gallon PH’d to 6.2. Getting thirstier as it goes. Supp lighting set to 7 out of 10. Light has been at 100% since a week into flower.

Did some tucking, fed 75% solution of Jacks PH’d to 6.2-6.3. Hands sticky already from tucking. This one is going to be awesome.

Day: 78

Flower

Really proud of this grow so far. Just gave it a plain water PH’d to 6.1/6.2 ish to give it a little nutrient break and see if it can dissolve any excess stuff in the soil. Pulled a few more covered leaves and 2-3 bud sites that were stuck near the bottom and had no chance of coming to the canopy. I’ve learned my lesson with larf.

Day: 77

Flower

Defoliation time. Grabbed anything at the way bottom that wasn’t getting light. Didn’t go crazy up top. Tied a few taller branches down to even it out a little better.

Stretching like crazy. Fed tonight again. 75% solution yet.

Day: 73

Right before watering jacks @ 75% again. Thirsty. Constant game of evening out canopy as some are just growing to catch up.

Day: 71

Flower

Lights on, upped light dial to 100%. Supp lighting on tent poles still at 50%. Did some tucking to try and even out the canopy a bit and open up some light to a few other sites that were covered.

Day: 70

Flower

Starting to stretch, and quickly. Back at it at lights on with 75% jacks solution. Mixed up a new batch. 10.6g Part A, 3.3g epsom, 7.2g Part B mixed in that order. 4gal of water. Formula is for 3gal of water, making the solution 75%. Fed this one about 2/3 of a gallon of solution.

Day: 67

Flower

Quick feed before 9pm lights on. Had about 1/3 gal of 75% solution left, so I filled that up with regular water. Good break for the nutrients for a watering. Need to get more mixed up here for the next watering. Love the structure here so far, it’s making it easy to train. Need to even out the tops at next water and move the net up to accommodate.

Day: 65

Flower

Probably need to adjust the net soon or defoliate a bit. Thing is growing like crazy. Fed her yesterday Jacks 75% solution again. Won’t be back home til Friday lights on around 9pm cst.. hopefully she stays happy til then. Really liking the structure after training. Flipped to full on 12/12 on day 63.

Day: 63

Decent lower 1/3 defoliation today while lights were off. Backwards type switch to flower - schedule was 3pm to 9am for veg and instead of making the off time shorter, I am extending it to 9pm “on” and 9am “off”. Not ideal but need lights on overnight. Going to give her a drink at lights on. Going to utilized ACI supplemental bar lights on the corners throughout flower and move top light intensity up throughout the week. Currently at 60% at 18”… anyone have a good way to inch upwards to 100%? Timeframe?

Day: 61

+1

6.1 PH feed with 75% jacks solution again. She was starting to wilt a little and the pot felt light. Starting a transition to flower over the next few days. Currently at 3pm “lights on” and 9am “lights off”. Just changed the “on” time to 5pm. Will add it in two hour increments over the next two days or so. Dialing in VPD has apparently made this grow exponentially better than my past stuff. Crazy how that works 😅

@eaegifts

@eaegifts I like to shorten days by making lights cut off earlier instead of coming on later. I feel it’s closer to the sun going down and I’ve noticed they kick into flower faster. Could all be in my head lol 👍🏾

@eaegifts

@eaegifts Do you plan to use the vpd charts in flower?

bigo32 Definitely get that, I just need to make the time a little more convenient for me personally haha. VPD charts will continue. Although I’m not using leaf temp, I still feel it’s working pretty well. Just using temp of the tent mostly

Someone liked yesterday’s water/feed. Maybe this weekend or early next week I’ll flip. Hard to manage

Day: 57

I think flip to flower needs to happen this weekend. The new growth and amount of bud sites is getting out of control for how small this tent is. Just fed 75% strength PH’d to 6.0 again. Probably feeding to a decent amount of runoff so I put the plastic tray back below it. Heat mat back on underneath to aid in drying a little. Will probably flip on the weekend.

Day: 55

Just getting this gal a drink of plain PH water. 6.2 reading this time around and 1.5L. Could probably soak it a little more but I hate dealing with runoff. Filling out the 2x2 pretty nicely

Day: 53

Installed a net to broaden out the canopy a bit. Lot of bud sites in a small area was hard to manage. First time doing the net the “right way”. Tips appreciated.

2X2Boof

2X2Boof I’m running Lilac Diesal Rbx and Grape Crescendo next, so it’ll be interesting to see how your flowers come out. How close to flip are you?

bigo32 Thinking pretty close. The issue is, I don’t want the smell in my office. My garage is hovering around 40-50 degrees so I may have to wait 3-4 more weeks to flip due to temps.

2X2Boof

2X2Boof Have you considered an activated carbon filter? Assuming you have an inline fan, that is. I got a pretty cheap one on Amazon for around $35. Came with fan, filter, and hoses. Gets rid of about 98% of the smell. Only good for a grow or two at max until it needs replacing. I highly recommend.

Day: 52

Lights on and she gets a 1.5L drink of Jacks at 75%. Once this batch of mix is done, I’ll be upping it to full strength. Probably 3-5 more feedings left. Anyone have recommendations - I’ve alternated feedings to PH’d plain water. Think she can handle back to back feedings?

Day: 50

PH’d to 6.0 plain water feed. 1.5L/ half gallon or so. Tops really filling out nicely. Probably need to flip soon.

Day: 49

Canopy really filling out - just did some leaf tucking to expose one site in the back. Maintaining the undergrowth as well so avoid energy going to things that won’t see any light. Temps haven’t been great in my basement, but I don’t think I want to introduce a heater due to drop in humidity. Stable VPD between 0.85 and 1.1 is fine for me. Probably slowing some growth at these temps but oh well, it’s a freebie/project.

Day: 47

Frankenstein’s monster continues. Light defoliation to expose some bud sites and tied down to encourage even canopy. This one is getting tricky fast. Finally dried out after the flush, so I fed it about 1.5L / half gallon of 75% strength Jacks 3-2-1 for a lil meal. Mainly just trimmed off some foliage near the soil along with a couple small branches that had no shot of poking through to the canopy.

Day: 46

Starting to really like the structure of this plant!

Day: 45

Went a little more aggressive with some training that I initially expected myself to. Nothing crazy, but going to work against some apical dominance to spread out the canopy before flipping in 3-4 weeks. Ideally in March it’ll be warm enough in my garage to utilize a small heater at most. All else fails, I’ll get it spread out to the corners and wait til April.

Day: 44

Freebie grow = trying some stuff. Bending with some LST. Trying to get this level before I flip.

Day: 43

Definitely learned my lesson - should’ve let it dry out before flushing. She’s just been too wet for too long. Adding the seedling mat underneath to assist with some heat since temps are around 65 in my basement during “lights off”. Set to 72 degrees. Hoping that’ll help dry it out a little, too. Probably need to start some seedlings here soon for the spring season in the garage.

Day: 42

Just flushed with PH 5.9 water. I am/was getting concerned about the dark green foliage, potential N toxicity? Can’t find much for this cross online so it’s tough to see if it’s normal. Probably too worried, but worth looking at. Anyone have similar issues? Curious to see solutions or prior experience.

rabidrejectgrows There looks like a little too much N but if you aren’t in flower yet it shouldn’t matter, just back off the N a little. I think you may be worrying more than is needed, it just looks like a really indica, heavily topped plant to me….

bigo32 Got it. I did a FIM cut once about 10 days ago. Probably didn’t need to flush as you said, but will see how it plays out. I was feeding 75% Jacks 3-2-1 solution, so maybe I’ll run that with about 50% instead.

Day: 40

Recovering nicely. Probably going to flip her soon. Got a bamboo stake going since the stalk was leaning a little. Just watered again with a 75% Jacks solution and PH’d to 5.8.

Day: 36

+2

Realized after watering that I forgot to PH the water. Doh. Jacks 3-2-1 at 75% might not be too great for this one if it’s not PH’d. Anyways, here’s to hoping I didn’t kill it. Jacks recipe: 3g part A, 2g part B, 1g epsom. Recipe is per gallon. Mixed 4 gal water in a bucket and 3 gal worth of the recipe dry ingredients. Need to really get better about PH before feed. PH of jacks solution turned out to be 7.1 so not as bad as I anticipated. However, it’s responding very well to the FIM imo. Likely needed to keep my light higher during early veg since it’s very close to the soil right now. I guess time will tell.

Day: 34

+2

Feeding a little higher quantity of Jacks today. Lights on at 3pm CST, so they’re getting breakfast. PH’d to 6.2. Not sure where this bend is coming from, but figured I might as well help it out before it gets too dramatic. Need to top fill some soil next feed. Also added some supplemental lighting bars. Guess we’ll see if they are a gimmick or not.

Day: 34

Spontaneous decision to FIM.

Day: 30

Watered yesterday with half PH’d water, half Jack’s solution (which is mixed around 50% strength, effectively making the watering solution ~25%). Documenting size here as I finally got my humidifier hooked up to bring VPD to correct levels for veg. Sitting around 68-70F and pushing humidity up from 40% or so to 58-62% if successful. Hoping for a little faster growth.

60tree Grower This all sounds like a great approach, am also running some Ethos at the moment and there genetics seem powerful and pretty stable on the ones am currently working with. Your grow is looking good and wishing you the best results moving forward✌🏼

bigo32 Thanks! Hoping for some warmer weather so I can get these gals in the garage. Likely won’t be possible until I flip (mid-March). Might have to donate the little one. Thanks for checking it out!
