Well the buds have dried and I trimmed them completely. 7.5oz of buds with another 1 of trim and small nugs. Discovered that one of my girls had a few seeds hidden in there. Must have been stressed and tried to go hermie. This ends this grow with another starting! Thanks for everyone’s encouragement.

Week 22 for the 3 SSH and Week 19 for what is looking like a purple Afghan girl from my bag seed! Total of 9.4 weeks flowering. Girls have been in darkness for 24 and I’m harvesting In a few hours. Prepping their wash. Getting implements ready and looking forward to the final quality time with Pearly Baker. Scarlett. Aunt Helen and Delilah Jones. 😢

Caliban

Caliban Top colas about 20-30% amber tricomes. Mid and lower buds about 10-20. Time to harvest. Thor my rescue Maine coon agrees. He loves to harvest leaves too.

Caliban

Caliban Lots of lessons learned. Heat control. Too much ph adjustment w non organic liquid probably caused nute lock too. Soil depleted earlier and caused some initial N issues and then some stunted growth. We recovered and the girls went into fall colors and I only take leaves when they are falling off

moneymike1983

moneymike1983 If that is Afghan, you should be able to bring more color out by dropping the temp right? Fairly sure that’s how it works. Correct me if I’m wrong

Harvest. 2 plants so so. Somewhat smaller buds and 2 were pretty solid. Reflects the nature of my mistakes. Next grow will be better genetics and more disciple. Enjoy the pics. Peace. Love. Robots. 🙏. I didn’t do a wet weigh in but I did a wet trim and a wash in a mix of lemon juice and sodium bicarbonate and then in a hydrogen peroxide solution. Both dilute to wash off dust and cat hair. Lol. I’m guessing that when trimmed the 4 plants will yield maybe 6.5-7oz. Guessing and maybe optimistic! 3 hours to process my 4 girls. Now it’s a scotch and a joint of some Durban Poison and contemplating my next grow. Thanks for all the encouragement and support everyone! My girls were imperfect but the journey was awesome.

Fatman

Fatman I am new to this and have a Super silver Haze in the tent. She is the first to tell me I am doing something wrong. Let me know how the buds turn out. Thanks

Caliban

Caliban Hey Fatman! The SSH was an adventure. Don’t overfeed her! She is the queen of all genetics. Treat her right and she will grace you with dense magic bud. Mine were not great genetics and I made lots of mistakes

Entering week 8 of flower. SSH leaves all yellowing quickly. Bag seed girl taking her time as she is younger by about 2-3 weeks. Maybe another 1-2 weeks before harvest. Some Amber tricomes on the tallest buds. Maybe 10%. I’ll harvest about 30% Amber give or take?

gregg01f

gregg01f Looking good, I prefer a little less amber personally but you have to go with what you want! Great job

Fall colors continue! Week 8 flowering but I think that the SSH prolly went into flower a week or two earlier than recorded? Getting very smelly!! I can smell it wafting out of my cellar.

Girls are fattening and yellowing! Skunky smelling which is great. Starting to trim dead and yellowing leaves as the girls use up their energy. Wish that I was able to get the Nutes right on 2 of them but oh well here we are!

The girls are doing better. Leaves are yellowing and I continue to defoliate lightly while managing the nutrient deficiencies. Seems stable. Starting to smell nice and getting frosty. This is the 5th week of flower. Another 3-4 weeks to go for the SSH.

Feeding them mostly Bloom Nutes heavy on P/K. Some yellowing. 4 weeks into flower. Watering about every other day and compost tea 1/week. All organic.

Caliban

Caliban Thanks! Trying to tuck leaves. They need more Nutes too I think but doing it organic. Slow.

Day: 107

Ok. Finally figured out the problem. 2/4 plants have ph issue. Soil runoff on 2 is around 6.6-8. And the other 2 at 7.3-7.5. I missed that! I have been ph my water between 5.9-6.6 but somehow 2 plants running higher. Pic 4/5 is the worst

Caliban

Caliban The plan is to drop ph down to 5.6 and see if I can stabilize the soil next watering.

Caliban

Caliban Such a rook mistake. Only sampled one plant runoff at a time Instead if checking all plant. Missed the ph drift.

Day: 103

The girls are 16 days into flower. Developing well. 3/4 that is. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any constructive advice! Of note pic 5/7 is my problem girl. Leaves are thin and curled under. Advice appreciated!?

StoneyBaloney83

StoneyBaloney83 By no means am I an expert, but possible overwatering?

Caliban

Caliban I let them dry out for 2 days then watered today. 3/4 doing well so as a newbie grower I’m doing ok I suppose. 🤕😉

Day: 101

Week 2 of flower for these girls. Top dressing 1/week. Tea 1/week. And fresh ph water in between. They are starting to need water every day instead of every other day. Stretching too. Please anyone send your opinions! I will defoliate this week and tie down some branches but not too crazy.

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama They’re growing.. probably need to increase your water.. what’s your pot size.. they are really going to sprout with defoil.. I notice a difference when I lollipop mine and now we’re two days away from flowering.. everything looking good.. man I bet they going taste good..ALL ORGANIC 😱🤯

Caliban

Caliban Yeah I’m watering pretty much every other day now! 5G pots.

Day: 98

2/4 girls still struggling. Spent last month getting them back up with organic Nutes but it feels like the 2SSH are just not thriving. I took off a couple of lower leaves showing some damage. Looks like Potassium deficiency and N too. Thoughts?

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Do you have to flush with an organic grow.. have you check your ph run off.. because it seems you checking all the boxes as far as Marco and micros so maybe it’s how your plants taking the nutrients.. your fellow newbie so I’m just thinking out loud.. What are your P and K levels in your nutes..

Caliban

Caliban Thanks Troy-Farms! They are progressing since these pics. The tops for 3/4 plants are healthy.

Day: 93

Day 6 of flower. Girls are stretching nicely. Seems that my nute problem is under control now although the SSH are still more pale than green. At least the yellowing has stopped. Basically I went strong w top dressings, foliar spray and teas alternating. Cal Mag and N were the culprits. I think my soil depleted earlier than I was anticipated and went too light on their feedings initially. Learning and burning! Love any advice and feedback! I’m no ego so let me know what I could do better. Peace.

Day: 87

Flipping the girls to flower. Been dealing w deficiencies for a few weeks and I think I have 3/4 stabilized with various means of Nutes. Foliar spraying with kelp and epsom salt dilutions. Plants seem to like that. Added compost teas to my rotation every 10 days and switched my amendments to bloom. Using roots organic. Girls getting tall so felt I needed to move them into flower and hoping the soil starts charging back up to speed. Here are some recent pics. The lights make the leaves slightly greener than in real sun especially on the SSH. The bag seed is maybe Blue Dream and (looking she) is doing remarkably well. SSH is a tough strain for a beginner!

GrowingFlatBroke How long did they veg for and what training techniques do you use? Looking good🔥💯

Caliban

Caliban The 3 SSH are in week 11. Only did topping in week 4/5. I trim only smaller leaves below as I want to get through any issues with Nutes before I remove any more. The bag seed is week 9

3 SSH and 1 bag seed. Thinking Blue Dream? 2 of the SSH had some N and CalMag deficiency that I’ve struggled with. I added some epsom salt to my watering and also gave another foliar spray with it. Getting ready to flip but I want to see some greener leaves on the two girls. Thoughts? Advice? My second grow.

NEgrower

NEgrower How much are you water are you giving them at a time?

NEgrower

NEgrower Wow that was some poor English.

Caliban

Caliban Lol. I’m usually every other day once the topsoil gets dry. About 2 liters per depending on how dry. I water to slight runoff. I alternate dry Nutes and Cal Mag with ph tap every other watering.

Day: 81

After a 2 week focus on N deficiency and Cal/Mag deficiency the plants are doing a bit better. They seem lush and while not fully back to normal the girls are moving in right direction. Mostly been focusing on compost tea every 10 days. Top dressing w various dry amendments from Roots Organic and foliar sprays every 3rd day w kelp extract and a little cal Mag elements from roots organic. Here are some pics. Welcome any feedback!

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Man they looking good.. are the tall plants the SSH

Caliban

Caliban Yes. The tall ones are SSH. They are also difficult to raise. Lol.

Caliban

Caliban 2 plants still have deficiency. They are lacking Cal and Mag and probably N. I though I was feeding them enough but likely not.

Day: 78

Ok. The 3 SSH are still a bit lighter than my Bag seed girl but after a drenching in compost tea, which I brewed for 48 hours might have perked them up! Would love feedback on some of the leaf issues I am seeing in one plant light colored leaf edges and some tips? My soil is organic. My ph runoff is around 6.6. For these girls I only took some lower stunted growth and assume that more leaves = more energy. Flipping to flower this weekend. Peace ✌️

Caliban

Caliban Ok. A friend told me Cal Mag deficiency. Since I’m organic im going to add some Roots Organic top dress CalMag. That is the lime green leaf issue I’ve been having on pic5/5.

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama Did it work.. and the Blue Dream I’m growing is half SSH. And it’s color almost the same.. if no change it could that genetic color ..I know my sativa dominate Blue Dream lighter than my indica dominate Gold Leaf..

Caliban

Caliban No change yet. This is organic so it will probably be a week or so before it corrects I think

Day: 76

Getting ready to flip. Girls still coming in light green but looking more lush since the feedings. Tomorrow they get their tea feeding.

Day: 75

Today I just gave PH6.5 water and let the girls absorb their nutes from the past week. Feels like the kelp and cal/Mag foliar sprays are paying off as the leaves seem a bit darker than prior. Maybe a little more vigor? Or my imagination? I have a tea percolating to give next. Took down some stunted leaves but left most big fan leaves because I keep hearing ppl say that they are great fuel reserves for flowering. Let’s see how that goes.

Day: 74

About 4 days since I really finally diagnosed what has been a long time deficiency. N and Cal/Mag to some degree. Foliar spray lightly each night w some kelp extract and Cal Mag. Very dilute. Hoping to seem some change in color before I defoliate some of the really old leaves abs then rest another week for flower. The SSH take a long time anyway. Picture 1 is this morning lights out before spray. Other picture is last night lights on.

GreenBoy From Alabama

GreenBoy From Alabama 👀👀 looking real good.. I’ll be watching how foliar spray work.. How much do you dilute your foliar spray?

Caliban

Caliban Hi GB. I used about 1/2 TSP of liquid Kelp extract and 1 ml of cal/Mag. They seemed to enjoy it I must say. 3 days straight of light misting and keeping solid damp. Prepping a compost tea as well and will use that for next watering. Plants are starting to grow. They want flower time. I want to stabilize before I flip. Fingers Xsed. My bad seed is thriving but different genes. Those SSH are tough to grow.

Caliban

Caliban In 1 Gal of de gassed tap at 7.2 ph Down to around 6.3 ish after adding the kelp

Day: 73

3 days after diagnosing an N deficiency I have added more dry amendment and tried 2 foliar sprays with some kelp to see if they recharge. Here are the pics in the dark w lights out just after dosing them w a spray. And Plantman was right about hair being used for N! Found this at the Agway

Caliban

Caliban Latest pictures are 6 hours after their foliar spraying while dark. Lights on now. Maybe a little better?? Still too green. The bad seed plant doing great though. SSH really tough to raise.

Day: 72

My girls. Not doing well. Yellowing leaves below. Leaves feel dry and withering. Organic. Top dressing weekly with dry amendments. Last 2 weeks these girls not doing well. Increased water to almost daily to make sure I didn’t dry them out. Any thoughts. Cal/mag? My amendments have a lot? N deficiency? Lockout? I’m bummmed as this is my second grow and SSH not doing well by me.

plantman

plantman The yellowing may very well be a nitrogen deficiency.

plantman

plantman Try this; get some hair, either human or animal, but should be cut very recently, like today. Burrow under the dirt a little, and stuff the hair in the hole, as close to the main stalk as you can, without destroying roots. Put a small amount of water above the area where the hair is (enough to wet the hair), and remember to recover the hole where you put the hair into. Don’t water for 3-4 days. Hair contains a LOT of nitrogen, in a day or 2, your plant should bounce back. After that, try watering only 2 times a week, like Sunday night just before the lights go out (to allow the plant to soak up the water, but not create massive humidity due to the lights being on), and Wednesday night, just before lights go out. You’ll have to experiment a little with how much water to give your ladies. Mine generally take about 1/2 gallon each watering, and now and then, they require a full gallon (about every 2 weeks or so). Hopefully this will help you out.

plantman

plantman By the way, have you been checking the ph of your water before you give it to the plants? Should be between 6.0 and 6.5

SSH coming in a little yellow and leaves dry? She is drinking every other day. I grow organic so only top dressing and tea this week. Any thoughts? Second grow.

hashcompany

hashcompany Hit it with some calmag. Since you’re using organic time release amendments, your soil should never ever come close to dry. You need moisture to keep the microbial life active. If it dries up, so do your microbes. This is where I went south on my last grow. I let it dry out and suffered. I also never used calmag until my current grow and I have no issues now

Caliban

Caliban Thanks! Generally I water once it gets dry to the second knuckle and use a probe to test deep. I’ll add Cal Mag too. Good idea.

hashcompany

hashcompany A probe! That’s what I need to get lol any recommendations?
